Why
Juice concentrates fruit sugar and strips the fibre that slows absorption. Regular juice feeding is linked to fatty liver and yeast problems. Whole fruit is always better.
What to watch for
Signs that the amount was too much:
- loose droppings
- weight gain
- yeast overgrowth
What to feed instead
If you were reaching for fruit juice, apple gives you the same job — a treat the bird will actually take — without the risk. Can parrots eat apple?
How much is too much
Not recommended. Give the whole fruit instead.
Treats and fruit should stay under roughly 20% of the daily bowl. The rest is pellets, leafy greens and a good chop.
