- Verdict
- Only in small amounts
- Amount
- 1–2 grapes, cut in quarters, as an occasional treat.
- Safer swap
- Blueberries
Why
Grapes are not known to be toxic to parrots the way they are to dogs, but they are high in sugar and low in nutrients. Raisins concentrate that sugar and stick to the beak.
What to watch for
Signs that the amount was too much:
- none expected in moderation
- loose droppings if overfed
What to feed instead
If you were reaching for grapes, blueberries gives you the same job — a treat the bird will actually take — without the risk. Can parrots eat blueberries?
How much is too much
1–2 grapes, cut in quarters, as an occasional treat.
Treats and fruit should stay under roughly 20% of the daily bowl. The rest is pellets, leafy greens and a good chop.
